  1. Retailer / Marketplace:  Every day, your marketplace grows with new products. The challenge is on eliminating errors and duplicates.
  2. Verified by GS1:  Before publishing, you can check the digital identity of each new product, using the GTIN with Verified by GS1.
  3. GS1 Registry Platform:  By querying the GS1 Global Registry to verify the GTIN, Verified by GS1 displays the seven key attributes validated by the brand.
  4. Brand:  It is in fact the brands themselves that want to protect the identity of their products to avoid inaccuracies and counterfeiting.
  5. Codifico:  With Codifico, you can create a digital identity for your products by entering all the basic information.
  6. GS1 Registry Platform:  This information is collected in the GS1 Registry Platform, which can be queried using Verified by GS1.

Who provides the data for Verified by GS1?

The data on the GS1 Registry Platform, which can be queried using Verified by GS1, is provided by the same companies that are responsible for assigning the Global Trade Item Number to the item to be marketed, or the physical location to be identified with the GLN.

I am a producer: what should I do?

  1. Make sure you only use unique and authorised GTINs for your products. Only GS1, GS1 Italy for Italy, assigns GS1/EAN barcodes that are authorised and accepted in all sales channels.
  2. Ensure that your products are identified with the seven attributes required for Verified by GS1.
  3. Import the GTINs of the products you have assigned offline via your systems into Codifico. This ensures automatic publication on the GS1 registry, GS1 Registry Platform.

I am a retailer/marketplace: what can I do?

Use Verified by GS1 to verify the identity of a product on the market through seven product attributes via the Verified by GS1 public page with manual queries, limited to thirty per day.

We provide more extensive searches with the option to export results by logging in with your credentials. For retailers registered with GS1 Italy, the utility activation is included in the annual fee.
